Star Wars: The Last Jedi at NYCC
Creative Director · US / Global
Comic Con moments no longer belong only to the people in the room. We choreographed a live sequence with Stormtroopers, BB-8 and Kylo Ren that had to work twice: live for the fans there, and as a cinematic recap Star Wars released to everyone else.
Problem
Comic Con moments no longer belong only to the room: fans expect access whether they attend or not, and static displays weren't enough for The Last Jedi.
Solution
A choreographed live sequence: Stormtroopers, BB-8, Kylo Ren: designed to work in person and as a cinematic recap released by Star Wars.
Results
Designed twice over, and it had to work both times: the fans in the room got the moment live, and Star Wars released the cinematic recap to everyone who wasn't there.
01: NYCC experience
